Abstract:

A main concern in solving the problem of visual recognition is the difficulty caused by differences in location, viewpoint, background clutter, similarity between classes, occlusion. In our work, we propose the use of latent variables that are discriminatively learned. We consider cases where we learn the location, appearance differences, background clutter and relation between classes. The issues such as initialization and data imbalance are also considered. We have evaluated our method using challenging real world datasets in a number of settings.
