One dual Xeon Linux server provides SMTP mail service. This server also provides IMAP/s & POP2/3/s services. Another system having similar hardware & software configuration is acting as backup server for this mail server.
Two Xeon linux servers provide NFS service for all CSE Lab users.
2 Linux and two SUN servers are for general purpose use.
Intranet website, anonymous FTP server, MySQL server services are running on a Linux Pentium-IV system.
Internet website & personal home pages are hosted on Linux (Fedora) based xeon server.
Scanning & CD Writing facility is also available in the CSE-Lab.
Most of the CSE-Lab clients are dual boot systems. These systems are using DHCP for fixed IP allocation. Currently, clients are running Fedora core 2/Mandrake 10 & Windows 2000 with SP4. Sixteen SUN, workstations having Solaris 8 are also being used in the Lab. 12 sunray clients are alos available in the lab loaded with Solaris 9.
Most of the PCs in rooms are equipped with laser printer and DVD ROM cum CD-Writer unit.
Three Laser printers, out of which one HP 4550 N is a color laser printer are used for printing. All printers are networked. One dot matrix printer is also available for printing.
CSE-Lab is fully air conditioned & UPS protected. 60 minute backup is for lab client systems and 2 hour backup is for all server systems and room PCs.
Daily automatic backup is for users home directory. It is available for last 30 days.
The department also draws upon the computing resources available at the Institute's Computer Centre.
