Abstract:

Software Systems are expected to meet the functional as well as non-functional requirements. Performance is considered as one of the most evident and perceivable non-functional requirements of the system. Hence, performance has to be proactively addressed through the software development life cycle.

In this talk, we will provide overview of the method, the tools and techniques involved in Performance Engineering and the challenges that exists when applied to enterprise applications. We will also provide an overview of solutions being developed to address the needs of the enterprise application development teams in managing system performance. The lecture is aimed at research students who are willing to get a feel about this field and looking are at important research problems to work on.

Performance Engineering Group, SET Labs, Infosys :

Formed in early 2002, the main mandate of the group is to develop solutions in the area of Performance Engineering that are deployed in the projects across Infosys, while also pursuing research in the areas of workload characterization, performance modeling and capacity planning. The Performance Engineering group has around 15 researchers who have not only been successful in developing solutions for Infosys clients, but also developed international credibility by publishing research papers.
