Abstract

For any high level Natural Language Processing (NLP) task there is a necessity that the input is error-free. Even for experts of a language, word level error may occur in the form of misspelling or real error misplacement. While, the second type of error cannot be solved so easily, the first type is reasonably well checked by the spell-checker. However, development a powerful spell-checker is not an easy task for inflectional languages. That is why no powerful commercial system is available for many Indian scripts. The current talk will explain different aspects of developing a good spell-checker and give examples from Bangla, which is a moderately rich inflectional language. This scheme can also be applied for other Indian languages.
