Abstract

Telecom sector in India is ready to boom as consumers start benefitting from falling prices. What has made this possible? Does it provide an opportunity for India to move ahead? And finally, is this telecom revolution going to confine itself to urban areas, or does it give us an opportunity to transform rural India?

About the speaker

Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala heads the Telecom and Network Research Group (TeNeT) at IIT Madras. He is well-known for his work on developing CorDECT technology for wireless in local loop. He has received numerous awards, including Padma Shree, and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Kanpur.
