Abstract

In this talk, we present an overview of the activities being done by our group in the smart card area for the past one year. We begin with a brief technology overview of smart cards, talk about the SCOSTA standard for smart cards, its implementation, and the current work in the area. The SCOSTA standard has been adopted by the union ministry of road transport and highways for smart card based driving licenses and registration certificates.

About the Speaker

Dr. Deepak Gupta is Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur. He is an alumni of IIT Kanpur, and received his BTech and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Engineering in the years 1990 and 1995, respectively. He has spent one semester each at TRDDC, Pune, and Bell Labs, Holmdel, NJ, USA. His areas of research includes operating systems, and distributed systems.
