Natural Language Understanding in Multi-lingual Information Processing

Abstract

This talk will focus on the emerging standard of Universal Networking Language - which will enable users to translate between languages by first converting the semantic structures into UNL. The IIT Mumbai group is the first group in the world to develop a English to UNL, UNL to Hindi, and UNL to Marathi modules.

About the Speaker

Pushpak Bhattacharya is an Associate Professor in CSE Department at IIT Bombay. He did his BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1984. He completed his MTech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1986. He completed his PhD from IIT Bombay in 1993. His interests are in the areas of Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
