Abstract

High revisit multisensor, multi resolution, multispectral imagery from UAV or other reconnaissance platforms is analyzed by the Image Exploitation tools. This talk describes this innovative technology and describes the Image Exploitation System developed at the Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bangalore, for the Remotely Piloted Vehicle, RPV NISHANT.

In flight image exploitation work includes real time enhancement of image frames during RPV flight, target acquisition, calculation of geo location of targets, measurement of image, and image to map correspondence. Post flight image exploitation work includes image mosaicing, change detection, image restoration, classification of terrain, 3D depth computation. Results are presented in each of these areas from actual flight trials.

Keywords: Ground Image Exploitation System, In-flight and post flight image exploitation, Registration, mosaicing, change detection, Restoration, Texture analysis, Classification of terrain, Stereo vision.
