nainital:

start climb to nainital (1940m), abt 11km, mostly ascent with 2km or so of downhill. good quality road till you reach nainital. binoy+am reach by 9 and waiting in hotel everest. jd arrives 10+, boating on shikara.

shopping at bara bazar. momos at market on tibetan gali; dress at rajasthan handicrafts; puppets on mall; head down to bhowali.

then we take the road down to sat-tAl where we have a (very late) lunch, and binoy and i also do some canoeing on the lake.

mickey smetacek, avid tinkerer at age 16. has no intention of appearing in any college entrance tests; his ambition is to be an inventor. "i have several inventions already!" very very refreshing...

dinner at fishfolk. tuborg beer from bar/restaurant rs 75.

on the way back we run into bicycle tinkerer mickey smetacek at the gazebo. he has put gears and a gearshifter on a hero talon, fixed batteries which do front / tail lights plus horn; welded on a fan sheet from computer; welded stand - and seat coz it was falling off, had a dynamo put on but doesn't use it now. dinner at kmvn.
