Shubhadip Mitra is a Research Scholar at the Department of Computer Science and Engg., IIT Kanpur since July,2010. He did his Masters from the same department during 2006-2008. Meanwhile he worked in IBM India Research Lab, Bangalore for 1.5 years. His home town is Kanpur. In early 90s, he spent three years in Nainital, Uttarakhand and since then developed a serious inclination for Nature and the Himalayas in particular. Research Interests

His interests include various disciplines of Applied Theoretical Computer Science like Combinatorics, Optimization, Graph Algorithms, Pattern Matching, Databases, etc.
His Master’s thesis was on “Multi-Objective Spanning Trees” under the guidance of Prof. Shashank K. Mehta. Currently, he is working on Multi-Constrained Path problems on Directed Acyclic Graphs.
One of his other interest is Complex Event Processing over Data Streams. This has immense application in numerous domains like business analytics, systems management, financial applications, security systems, workflow management, etc.
During his stay at IBM IRL, he worked on developing some algorithms and heuristics to improve the quality of experience of Video-on-Demand users in WiMAX networks. He also worked in the area of Root Cause Analysis for Problem Determination in IT Services.

PhD Research Work

He is a scholar of Vedanta, more specifically Advaita Vedanta, propounded by Adi Shankaracharya. His teachers are Swami Paramsukhananda, Ramakrishna Mission and Swami Paramarthananda, disciple of Swami Dayananda Saraswati (disciple of Swami Shivananda).
