Assignment 1

How I check a new message on my phone :

-Given the sensation of the alert tone/vibration that indicates arrival of a message in my phone’s inbox, here is the process that follows –
-(Perception of the tone/vibration is a given – involving the recognition of the sound or rhythm of the vibration – to indicate that the alert is for a message, and not a call, battery alert, etc.)
-Retrieval of phone from its current location (could be my pocket, or on the bed/table), generally via right hand. (phone is gripped with the back of the phone across basal phalange of fingers, with the little finger and ring finger wrapped around the posterior end of the phone, and index finger holding the apex)
-Using thumb, press unlock keys – and provide security code via pressing appropriate combination of keys (no visual cue or conscious thought required for the process)
-Press appropriate key to “view” new msg (top right key below the screen).
-Screen of phone is now brought into visual range (the above actions being possible without removing phone from pocket)
-Firstly, the name of sender is identified and associated remembrance of emotions and recent memories rise to the forefront of conscious thought. Else, for unknown numbers the response is generally – active curiosity or disinterest (depending on tasks at hand, while receiving message).
-Then, content of message is read (scrolling down with appropriate key, using thumb – if required).

(Reading and replying being far more complex processes – I leave them out of this assignment)
