How
I make notes in the class
1.
In
order to concentrate on what the professor is teaching, I try to prune a lot of
chaotic processing of information happening in my head while I sit in the
dynamic environment of the classroom like the falling of a pen, a student sneezing,
my neighbor scribbling away almost everything uttered, or random strong
thoughts from my memory like lyrics of my favorite song which I had listened to
like 10 times before coming to the lecture that morning, etc.
2.
While
making notes I use traffic management to manage listening and writing tasks,
i.e. I tend to choose bins of time when the professor is not speaking (for eg: when he is writing on the board or setting up the
projector ) and execute my writing task in those bins. Sometimes my brain does
multitasking by writing as well as listening simultaneously where writing is
more like a motor task with me not consciously digging out words from the
recent memory.
3.
While
writing with a pen, my hand automatically picks up the pen and holds it in the
right position to write but my hand never moves completely uniformly on the
paper because my handwriting consists of a lot of non uniformity. Sometimes
while scribbling very fast, the words become illegible as my hand muscles
trained to write the words at a particular pace are unable to keep up the pace
with the information inflow to my brain.
