Geetika

I am Geetika, a junior-year undergraduate in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Throughout my academic journey, I have passionately delved into the realms of Algorithms, Software Development, Competitive Programming, and Operating Systems. These subjects have not only shaped my academic foundation but have also ignited a profound curiosity within me to apply this knowledge to address real-world challenges in the industry. I have really enjoyed what I have done yet and want to further expand my knowledge. In addition to my academic pursuits, I have been actively involved in co-curricular activities. I am coordinator of ACA where we conduct events like happy hours, projects, department farewell etc. In my 2nd year, I was a secretary of the Programming Club of IITK, where I worked on the college’s open-source projects and conducted various workshops for the junior batches on topics including Bash Scripting, Software Development, Competitive Programming, etc.

GemOS

Course Project, Prof. Debadatta Mishra, IIT Kanpur

• Optimized memory management and system efficiency in gemOS, a specialized 64-bit X86 research-oriented operating system, through implementation of Lazy Allocation on mmap syscalls and Copy-on-Write techniques within a 4-level, 48-bit virtual address architecture akin to Intel x86-64, which also supports changing permissions(mprotect) and munmap functionality
• Implemented function call and sycsall tracing for process execution, offering instructional and debugging support akin to Linux's strace utility, which supported tracing of specific syscalls and functions and tested the correctness for every possible situation

Research Project, Prof. Samir Khuller, Northwestern University, Chicago, USA

• Studied clash-free course allocation algorithms for once-a-week classes, taking into account various credit caps(uniform, arbitrary, infinite) and utility(uniform, binary) models(ranging from polynomial time solvable to np-hard) which guarantee envy freeness
• Analysed best-known algorithms for the t-interval graphs to enhance course allocation algorithms for multiple classes per week
• Modeled relaxed linear programming algorithm(2t approx) for Max Weight Independent Set in t-interval graph using gurobipy

• Developed a web application using the MERN Stack which enables event scheduling and delivers personalised notifications
• Implemented integrative user interface using React.js which has like-dislike functionality, event details page and admin dashboard
• Integrated MongoDB as the robust backend database to store event details, facilitating seamless retrieval, manipulation, and storage of data according to various parameters while leveraging Express.js and Node.js to build a secure server-side API

Course Project, Prof. Purushottam Kar, Dept. of CSE IIT Kanpur

• Examined efficacy of LinearSVC and LogisticRegression models by optimizing hyperparameters like loss, tolerance, penalty
• Trained Decision tree model which plays word guessing game(99% accurate), by maximizing information gain using Gini index
• Achieved 1.896 MAE with a training time of 1.23s for KNN by testing various models (K-Nearest Neighbors, SVM, Kernel and DNN) on a dataset with features (timestamp, temperature, humidity, sensor readings etc) for predicting O3 and NO2 levels
