Brief Bio

Indranil Saha is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Intelligent Systems at IIT Kanpur. Prior to joining IIT Kanpur in 2015, he was a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley and the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Kalyani Government Engineering College in 2003, M.Tech. degree in Computer Science from Indian Statistical Institute in 2005, and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of California Los Angeles in 2013. From 2005 to 2008, he was a research scientist at Honeywell, Bangalore. His research interest lies in the application of formal methods and AI techniques to embedded and cyber-physical systems and robotics. He was a recipient of the Best Paper Award at the ACM SIGBED International Conference on Embedded Software (EMSOFT) in 2010 and the Best Repeatability Evaluation Award at the 26th ACM International Conference on Hybrid Systems: Computation and Control (HSCC) in 2023. He received the ACM SIGBED Frank Anger Memorial Award in 2012 for his contribution in the intersection of embedded systems and software engineering. At IIT Kanpur, he was a P. K. Kelkar Faculty Fellow from 2020 to 2023 and received the Excellence-In-Teaching Award in 2024. He has been appointed as the first head of the Department of Intelligent Systems at the Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems for three years in May 2025.
