while at shilaidaha, rabindranath (who liked to experiment with food, but
wasn't a epicure), started eating roTis.  people started saying, what's sthis
- he is starving!  how would they know that wheat has as much nutrition as
rice!  another time, he started eating vegetarian, DAlbATA-siddha was his
particular favourite.  sometimes only DAl instead of rice, with it some other
vegetables.  at other times, gam-er pAyes (wheat porridge).  all sorts of
weird foods he would trouble mriNAlinI debI with.
